Wednesday night saw three ball hockey games with three lopsided results.
Leftovers 7, Decepticon 3
Josh Desmarais had 2 goals and 3 assists and Mark Diamond notched a hat trick to lead the Leftovers to their second straight win to open up the season. After a well-played first period that ended with the two teams tied up at two, the Leftovers blew the game wide open with 4 goals in the second period, bookended by power play markers from both Desmarais and Diamond. Lucien Piche replied with 2 goals for Decepticon and goaltender Maxime Deslisle-Vaillancourt played a strong game, coming up with some big saves to keep this game from really getting out of hand.
Ratz 13, Wise Guys 4
In the biggest blowout of the night, the Ratz scored 9 goals in the first two periods to win this game going away. It was the second period which was the turning point in this game, as the Ratz scored 6 straight goals to take a 9-2 lead heading into the third. Newcomer M. David had 6 points (3G, 3A) in his first NABHL game and Mik Manessa, A. Robles, and D. Morelli all chipped in with 2 goals apiece. Nick Grandoni and Matthew Zollo led the way for the Wise Guys with 3 points each.
Expos 9, Bulldogs 3
David Kruger (1G, 5A) had 6 points to lead the Expos to their first win of the season, a 9-3 defeat over the Bulldogs. In a game that, thanks to Bulldogs goalie Matthew Goddard, wasn't as close as the final score might show, the Expos got on the board just 52 seconds into the first period, setting the tone for a game where they scored 3 goals in each frame. In addition to Kruger's big night, the Expos got 3-point nights from another 5 players, showing great offensive balance throughout the roster.

Sunday night's NABHL action saw two ball hockey and one roller hockey games.
OCG 4, Soarin' Coqs 1
Shaun Whitteron (1G, 2A) and Nectar Economakis (3A) each had three points to lead OCG past the Soarin' Coqs in a matchup of teams making their NABHL debuts. Coqs goaltender Brian Azimov was stellar through the first two periods, essentially single-handedly killing off a 5-on-3 OCG power play in the first period and keeping his team within a 2-1 deficit through two. In the third, however, the OCG offence was too much, as Armen Papazian and Jacques Arouchian - with his second of the game - scored to secure the win. Jonathan Daigle scored the only goal for the Soarin' Coqs.
The Leftovers 12, Expos 3
Mikey Reider (2G, 5A) and Josh Desmarais (3G, 2A) led the way as The Leftovers pounded the Expos 12-3 in a game that was much closer than the final score would indicate. After the two teams traded first period goals, Desmarais scored his first just over 2 minutes into the second before Ryan "Beef" Schwartz scored on a power play to knot the game at 2. Ronnie Ohayon and Alex Cohen replied with two quick goals giving The Leftovers a 4-2 lead going into the third. It was in the final 15 minutes, however, where the score got out of hand as The Leftovers scored 8 times in the final frame providing the lopsided final margin.
Cheerio 14, The Jokes 8
The NABHL roller hockey season got underway with a shorthanded Cheerio team having their way with The Jokes. Lorne Sevy (5G, 5A), Jordan Simon (2G, 8A) and Cedric Ohayon (5G, 4A) all had big games for a Cheerio team that played the game without any subs. It was the first 30 minutes that decided this game as Cheerio got out to a 5-2 lead after the first and an 8-3 lead after the second. The third period featured 11 goals between the two teams with The Jokes coming up just a bit short. Evan Gillman and Jeremy Frolich led the way for The Jokes with four and three goals, respectively.

The 2009 NABHL summer ball hockey season got underway on Wednesday night with two games
FW Legends 10, Wise Guys 1
The defending intermediate ball hockey champion FW Legends showed that, once again, they will be a force to be reckoned with this season with a dominating 10-1 victory over the Wise Guys, playing in their first NABHL game. Sparked by 4 points each by Steven Clement (2G, 2A) and Olivier Bonneville (1G, 3A), FW jumped out to a 7-0 first period lead and never looked back. Surprise offseason addition Jordan Topor chipped in with 3 points of his own, and Leo Donovan Jason Clement contributed 2 goals each. Jordan Marchetta replied with the lone goal for the Wise Guys.
Ratz 3, Expos 2 (shootout)
D. Morelli scored the shootout winner, capping a furious Ratz comeback in a 3-2 win over the Expos. Down 2-0 with 2 minutes remaining in the third period, the Ratz got goals from V. Boudreau and captain Mik Menassa to spoil a tremendous goaltending performance by Josh Naygeboren and send this game to a shootout. Josh Kruger and Ryan "Beef" Schwartz scored for the Expos, who had ample opportunity to put the game out of reach with a 5 on 3 power play in the third period. The Ratz killed it off, setting the stage for their third period heroics.
