Elite Ball Hockey
Grinders (black) 4, Baton Rouge 3
Robbie Pinnell scored with just over a minute remaining in the third period as the black Grinders rallied for a 4-3 win over Baton Rouge. Tied at 2 after the second period, Enio Piroi scored a power play goal at 5:12 to give Baton Rouge a 3-2 lead before Julian Vespoli scored his second of the game to tie it up for the Grinders, setting the stage for Pinnell's winner. Eric Giacomelli led the way for Baton Rouge with a goal and an assist, while Joey Coscuna had three assists for the Grinders.
Huskies 4, Devils 2
Alex Cohen and Hillel Matthews scored in the third period to break a 2-2 tie as the Huskies moved to 2-0 on the season with a 4-2 win over the Devils. After Jordan Topor and Gab Dadoun gave the Huskies a 2-0 lead, each with power play goals, Mario Maori scored two consecutive second period goals for the Devils to tie the game heading into the third. With the loss, the Devils fall to 0-2 in their inaugural NABHL season.
Ducks 6, Blazers 0
Jacob Greenbaum had two goals and two assists and Aaron Blauer stopped everything that came his way as the Ducks improved to 2-0 on the season with a 6-0 shutout of the Blazers. Rob Greenberg, Jeremy Saban, Zack Frenkiel and Rich Shapiro also scored for the Ducks, who scored two in the first period, three times in the second and once more in the third.
Grinders (blue) 8, FW 5
In a rematch of the fall season finals, the blue Grinders once again beat FW, behind five points each from Adam Bercovitch (3G, 2A) and Ryan Hops (2G, 3A). Leading 2-1 after the first period, the Grinders exploded for five goals in the second period to essentially put the game out of reach. FW was led by Steven Clement (3A, 1A) and Lee Galletti (2G, 1A) in the loss.
Intermediate Ball Hockey
Decepticon 6, Bruisers 2
Captain Francis Milloy led the way with a hat trick and Charles-Antoine Marcoux chipped in with two goals of his own as Decepticon opened their season with a 6-2 win over the Bruisers. Decepticon's power play was solid throughout the game, scoring twice in three opportunities. The Bruisers' goals were scored by Guillaume Lord and Dany Dallalla.
D.A.L.T.S. 4, District 5 Knights 1
Andrew Smith led the way with two goals and the D.A.L.T.S. scored three times in the first period en route to their first-ever regulation NABHL win, a 4-1 victory over the District 5 Knights. After going 1-14-1 in the fall season, with their only win cmoing via forfeit, the D.A.L.T.S. got the new season off on the right foot with the victory.
Kryptonite 7, Bulldogs 4
Bobby Steeger scored four goals and Jesse Applebaum contributed six assists as Kryptonite improved to 2-0 on the season with a 7-4 victory over the Bulldogs. Down 2-1 after the first period, the Bulldogs made a surprising run in the second behind a natural hat trick from Josh Hum to take a 4-2 lead into the third, where Kryptonite showed their offe sive firepower, scoring five times in succession to put the game away. With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 0-2.
Roadrunners 8, Pirates 3
Jason Ciubotaru had five points (2G, 3A) and the Roadrunners scored six unanswered goals in the second and third periods to cruise to an 8-3 victory over the Pirates to start the season 2-0. Up 3-2 early in the second on the strength of two Danny Levine goals, the Pirates couldn't hold on as the Roadrunners scored twice in the second before adding four more in the third period for the ifnla margin of victory.
Bruisers 11, Peter Northstars 4
Guillaume Lord had six points on the night (4G, 2A) as the Bruisers destroyed the Peter Northstars 11-4 to even their record at 1-1 on the season. The Bruisers, who led 3-1 after the first and 6-2 after the second, also received two goals apiece from Kamal El-Allal and Patrick Guedj. DJ Schwartz led the way for the Northstars with two goals and an assist.
Roller Hockey
Nordiques 6, Islanders 2
Jeremy Frohlich had two goals and an assist to lead the defending champion Nordiques to their third straight victory to open the season, a 6-2 win over the expansion Islanders. After Frohlich scored in the first period, Daniel Sohmer scored two goals in the second and Eric Laville added his own to give the Nordiques a 4-0 after two, and putting the game out of reach. Brandon S. scored both goals for the Islanders.
Team Canada 9, Brampton Battalion 4
Evan Gillman had six points (3G, 3A) and Jeremy Weiss scored four times as Team Canada scored three goals in each period in a 9-4 win over the Brampton Battalion to move to 2-1 on the season. The Battalion were led by two goals each from Jesse Applebaum and Avi Satim.
Team Switzerland 5, Blackhawks 4
Jason Reti scored with 56 seconds remaining in the third period as Team Switzerland rallied for a 5-4 victory over the Blackhawks, offsetting a four-goal performance by Jordan Topor. Tied 2-2 after the second period, the Swiss took a 3-2 lead on a Jason Levy power play goal early in the third before Topor scored two in a row to put the Hawks ahead 4-3. With only two minutes remaining, Corey Demberg scored for the Swiss to tie the game at four before Reti put home the winner in the final minute. The win moved Team Switzerland to 2-2 on the season while the Blackhawks fell to 1-2.

Elite Ball Hockey
League Champions
Blue Grinders - After finishing the regular season in first place with a 11-4-1 record, the Grinders marched through the playoffs to win their second NABHL title. In the semi-finals, they dispatched a game Huskies team in two straight before meeting FW in an exciting three-game final series. After taking game one 4-3, the Grinders held a huge 6-1 in game two and seemed poised to take the series in two straight. Even though they ended up losing that game in overtime, they regrouped as any champion would to win game three by a 6-3 score. For the first time in the NABHL, the Grinders will return for the winter season to try and defend their title.
Regular Season Player of the Year
Steven Clement (FW) - Clement led the league in scoring with 40 points (16 goals, 24 assists) and had a league-high five power play goals as he helped FW finish in fourth place in the incredibly competitive elite division. Clement had at least one point in 15 of his 16 games throughout the season and ended up with a four-point cushion in the league standings.
Regular Season Goaltender of the Year
Aaron Blauer (Ducks) - Blauer turned in a solid performance as he led his Ducks to the second overall seed in the elite divison with a league leading 9 wins and a 4.13 goals against average, which was good for second in the league. In addition to his great goaltending, Blauer also helped out on the offensive end as he finished with two assists on the season.
Playoff MVP
Corey Karls (Blue Grinders) - Yet again, Karls showed why he is one of the best goaltenders at Le Rinque, as he backstopped the Blue Grinders to their second league title with some spectacular numbers. Apart from game two of the finals where he allowed six goals, he didnt allow more than three in any of his other playoff games to finish with a 4-1 record and a 3.20 goals against average. He saved his best for the title-clinching game as he stood on his head in the face of a barrage of shots from FW.
Intermediate Ball Hockey
League Champions
Kryptonite - Following a third place finish in the regular season, Kryptonite won their first-ever NABHL title, becoming the first team to come back from a 1-0 deficit in the semi-finals in the process. After beating the DALTS in the quarter-finals, they fell 6-5 in game one to the Peter Northstars. For the first time in NABHL history, they came back to win game two and then the mini game right after, setting up a final series against the surprising Roadrunners. Kryptonite showed their strengths throughout the series, sweeping aside the Roadrunners by scores of 4-3 and 5-1 to claim their first title.
Regular Season Player of the Year
David Kruger (Peter Northstars) - Kruger dominated the intermediate division this season, leading the league in goals (23), assists (33) and points (56) to win the scoring title by a whopping 14 points. He never had less than two points in any game during the season, and hit his high of five points in a game on three seperate occasions.
Regular Season Goaltender of the Year
Maxime Delisle-Vaillancourt (Decepticon) - In another dominating category, Delisle-Vaillancourt was a no-brainer for this award, as he led his team to the first overall seed with a 12-3 record, and a league-leading 2.80 goals against average. In addition, he was the only goaltender to post a shutout throughout the season, and he posted THREE of them. Without question, Delisle-Vaillancourt was the goaltender of the year.
Playoff MVP
Jesse Applebaum (Kryptonite) - In a close race with Kryptonite goaltender Ryan Eisenberg, Applebaum takes the award with a dominating 18 points (9 goals, 9 assists) in only six games. He also saved his best for when it counted the most, scoring three times in the semi-final victory over the Peter Northstars, and added another five goals in the two-game finals sweep over the Roadrunners.
Intermediate Roller Hockey
League Champions
Nordiques - In what could be considered a big upset, the second-seeded Nordiques knocked off the undefeated Team Switzerland in an exciting three-game final series. After finishing the regular season with a 10-6-0 record, the Nordiques beat the Habs in the semi finals, setting up a finals showdown with the Swiss. After losing game one 8-5, the Nords came back to win 5-3 in game two before taking the league title with an incredible overtime win in game three for their first NABHL title.
Regular Season Player of the Year
Mark Geylman (Team Switzerland) - Geylman absolutely dominated the regular season, scoring an incredible 40 goals and 57 points in only 13 games to take the league scoring title. He tallied points in every game he played, including a 10-point effort in a December game against the Habs.
Regular Season Goaltender of the Year
James Eid (Team Switzerland) - Any time a team goes undefeated in regulation time through a whole season, their goaltender must have put up great numbers. This is no different, as Eid posted a league-leading 13 wins with a 4,07 goals against average, with his only loss coming via shootout.
Playoff MVP
Josh Naygeboren (Nordiques) - Simply put, Naygeboren was dominating throughout the Nordiques' playoff run, especially in the finals victory over Team Switzerland. He finished the playoffs with a 4-1 record, a 3.80 goals against average, and a host of spectacular saves.
